Halloween has come early for Brendan Rodgers, as the ghosts and demons circling around Anfield over the last few seasons remain prevalent, with any potential exorcism still a long way off.
The ex-Chelsea and Swansea man has not covered himself in glory as he looks to assert his authority at Anfield.
Those who thought the Welshman would quickly fix the sinking ship that is Liverpool have been sadly mistaken.
It has been their worst start to a season for over 100 years, a quite incredible statistic that even the most pessimistic Red surely did not see coming in the post-Dalglish era.
Yet the facts don't lie, and after yet another hugely disappointing result against Stoke, they face an absolute must-win game at home to Reading next weekend.
Then follows Rodgers' first Merseyside derby at Goodison Park against an Everton side that are without doubt the better team at this moment in time.
The Andy Carroll debacle is only going to escalate further now Fabio Borini is out for at least four weeks, leaving Luis Suarez as the club's only recognised striker.
Anyone else see an embarrassing U-turn come January as they recall the England international?
With a club the size of Liverpool to have one fit striker on the books is an absolute disgrace, and Rodgers needs to take responsibility for the situation.
John W. Henry has already fired Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine after just one year in charge, after one of the worst seasons in Boston history.
There are plenty of similarities in Rodgers' situation, and while his current tenure has not reached the same volatility of Valentine's, the same foundations are certainly being set.
