Liverpool have made an approach for Italy forward Fabio Borini, according to reports in today's press.

The Mirror and Daily Mail report Liverpool's interest, after Roma's £7m option to make his deal permanent expired – having spent last season on loan at Roma from Parma.

Sport Italia claim Liverpool have made a €15m bid for the forward.

The 21 year old former Chelsea striker is well known by new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, having played under him during his time as Chelsea reserves manager and during a loan spell at Swansea in 2011.

That loan spell saw Borini score an impressive six goals in nine appearances and helped guide them into the Premier League. Immediately after that he joined Parma, having signed a pre-contract agreement with the Serie A side. Parma then loaned him to Roma with a view to a permanent deal, where he scored nine goals in 24 games last season.

During his time with Chelsea, he scored 10 goals in 11 games in the reserves 2008–09 campaign. In October 2010 he scored five goals in one game for the reserves.

Borini, who is part of Italy's squad at the European Championships, is said to be attracting interest from several clubs, including Paris St. Germain – coached by Carlo Ancelotti, who gave him his Chelsea debut back in 2009.
