Sigurdsson gets a fortnight to complete transfer

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been given a fortnight to decide his future as Liverpool and other Premier League clubs are said to be preparing bids.
A deal plus personal terms had been agreed with Swansea City; but Brendan Rodgers joining the Reds led Sigurdsson to think again about that switch.
His current club Hoffenheim, whose coaching staff is headed by former Liverpool defender Markus Babbel, have granted the Icelandic midfielder an extended summer break to ensure a potential transfer does not drag on. Sigurdsson should have reported back today.
The Bundesliga outfit issued a statement on the matter reads: "Gylfi Sigurdsson will not be with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the start of pre-season. He has, after consultation, obtained a prolonged holiday until 30th June.
"The club wants the 22-year-old to continue to secure a future in the Premier League."
Babbel added: "Gylfi wants to stay in England and is in negotiations there. Thus, it makes no sense for both sides for him to return to Hoffenheim, perhaps only for a few days.
"If, by the deadline on 30th June, he has done nothing, then he is here and will return to his pre-season with us. We have agreed this with him."
Liverpool are understood to have held positive talks with Sigurdsson's representatives, with Anfield his preferred destination.
The Reds are expected to pay slightly more than the £6.8 million Swansea agreed. The Welsh outfit had gained a small discount due to the loan fee paid last January and an agreement brokered during their negotiations.
Former Anfield man, Ryan Babel, is currently on the playing staff at Hoffenheim's Rhien-Neckar Arena.
