Gaston Ramirez latest

Hadia Yawanis July 5, 2012 24

Could Gaston be the first piece of the Tiki-Taka jigsaw?

It is widely understood that Liverpool Football Club will be holding talks with Bologna in the next 2 days about a possible move for Gaston Ramirez. Sources are rife with the news that LFC are very serious about signing the young Uruguayan.

Bologna have slapped a €20 (£16m) price tag on the very attack minded player. As it stands, Gaston Ramirez is very willing and open to a move to Liverpool FC. Gaston Ramirez is one of many hot prospects throughout. LFC must stave off interest from Juventus, Napoli, VFL Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen – as well as high spending Manchester City. The two current Uruguayan players in the Liverpool locker – Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates –  could tempt the 21 year old towards the red half of Merseyside, all three players are currently at Anfield training for the Olympics and this can not do us any harm in our bid to land the highly rated player.

Tancredi Palermo – CNN's Italian correspondent claims that:

A cash plus player swap deal with Aquilani is on the cards and will be at least attempted by LFC however Bologna could reject it due to Aquilani's wage demands.

Aquilani was notably absent from the pre-season training & meetings thus far and he is yet to receive a squad number. As much as we'd like Aquilani to play a role in the squad he doesn't seem to be very willing to wear the Liverbird on his chest. Whether it's because of home sickness or his treatment during his time here at LFC (being one of the star performers in pre-season then being resigned to the bench) it might be best for all three parties – LFC, Bologna and El Principino – that a cash plus swap deal be struck. Who knows though the technically gifted diminutive Italian might just be a perfect fit in the eyes of Brendan Rodgers.

The 21 year old (22 in December) boasts an impressive  7 goals and 4 assists in 23 starts for a Bologna side who finished 9th in last seasons Serie A. He possesses all the necessary characteristics to effectively blend into Brendan Rodgers' playing style. He is quick thinking, nimble footed, has a keen eye for a short pass and move combination and loves to dribble the ball – an added bonus is that he rarely gives up the ball. Gaston Ramirez is known to also have the ability for a killer through ball with a very solid 72% pass success rate (you have to keep in mind that he often plays the AMC position where options are limited and more final pass attempts are made). In addition to fitting the bill with Brendan Rodgers' playing philosophy, Gaston Ramirez also fits into FSG's transfer policy being a young signing with plenty of potential at 21 years old.

LFC now seem to be taking the initiative for the player and out of all the clubs interested it appears we are in pole position due to the speed at which we are holding talks with Bologna. As a result of  Liverpool's 'behind closed doors' approach to proceedings all we can do is sit back and wait for our very first signing of the season, who hopefully, completes a Uruguayan triumvirate at LFC.
